Paul S. Kates

Paul Kates is a highly knowledgeable and skilled business & management educator, trainer and coach with over a decade of experience in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing successful programs for various universities and companies in the APAC region, including many Fortune 500 companies.

He believes that a company’s most valuable resource is the people that they attract and is passionate about helping those people become the best versions of themselves. For corporate group training, he works closely with both HR and Team Managers to ensure that programs are optimized to meet the trainees’ needs and produce the desired results. When it comes to coaching, Paul knows that there is no single approach that works for everyone, so he continuously educates himself on best practices to provide the most valuable experience for the managers and executives he supports.

He received his education at York University, Toronto with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics for Commerce and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Schulich School of Business: Canada’s #1 Business School). His list of academic/practical credentials also includes certifications in the areas of graphic design and education.

Paul began his career as a management consultant for Ernst & Young and he subsequently went on to marketing & sales management positions in consumer goods, hospitality, and retail. He arrived in Japan in September 2006 and has been helping business people - at all levels - upgrade their skillsets and levels of performance since that time.

Paul currently lives in Tokyo with his wife and is an avid cyclist and fan of professional ice hockey (NHL).
