About KTS

Paul Kates is a business instructor, trainer, and coach with experience across business education, corporate training, marketing, sales, and general management. He has designed and delivered business skills programs for universities and companies across the APAC region, including Fortune 500 organizations.

Paul has taught undergraduate, MBA, and PhD-level learners, and has worked with professionals at all levels of organizations, from new hires to C-level executives. His training and coaching focus on practical skills that help people communicate more effectively, lead with greater confidence, and apply what they learn to real workplace situations.

Paul holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics for Commerce from York University. He also has credentials in graphic design and education.

Before moving into education, training, and coaching, Paul began his career as a management consultant with Ernst & Young and later held marketing and sales management roles in consumer goods, hospitality, and retail. He has lived in Japan since 2006 and is based in Tokyo.

Outside of work, Paul is an avid cyclist and longtime fan of the NHL, the North American professional ice hockey league.
